Lake Michigan / Halves
Lake Michigan, the second largest Great Lake by volume, is the only Great Lake entirely within the borders of the United States. Lake Michigan has more than 1,600 miles of shoreline.
In this image, red corresponds to vegetation and the green and brownish-green colors throughout the image show fields in various stages of cultivation. Notice the thin fog-like clouds in blue hovering over the southeast part of the lake, and the white popcorn clouds up to the northeast. The resort cities of northern Michigan like Traverse City, Charlevoix, Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island can clearly be seen in the Upper Peninsula area.
This very large image of Lake Michigan has been split into 2 halves, with each half covering an area approximately 100 x 360 miles. The full Lake Michigan image is only available as a special order print that is 44"x72". It is printed at a physical scale of approximately 5.4 miles per inch and covers an area of approximately 200x360 miles.
