San Juan River and Valley of the Gods
This image shows the San Juan River in southern Utah before it joins the Colorado River near Lake Powell. The river makes many twists and turns with several closed loops from earlier meanderings clearly visible. The edges of the many small canyons in this area are reminiscent of frost or lightning. Just above the river is the Valley of the Gods, containing many beautiful pinnacles and buttes.
The area covered by this image is approximately 51x40 miles.
